Vital Maziwa Benefits

Vital Maziwa contains no intentionally added iron and contains a mixture of three different copper sources in order to effectively combat copper “lock-up”.

Minerals are required by lactating cows to support their milk production through increased feed utilisation.

Mineral deficiencies can be a major factor limiting milk yield, particularly copper deficiency. Copper is used by the lactating cow to extract energy from the diet, which is used for milk production. A copper deficiency will lead to a lack of energy, which can significantly reduce milk yield.

Copper deficiency is usually caused by an excess of iron in the diet.East African soils are generally very high in iron, which is taken up preferentially into grasses and fodder crops. This excess of dietary iron interferes with the availability of dietary copper, typically in the rumen.

Vital Maziwa therefore maximises the bio- availability of supplementary copper and reverses the symptoms of copper deficiency in the animal.

Other important elements such as zinc, selenium, phosphorus and calcium are also present in Vital Maziwa to ensure a balanced, biologically significant supplement that has a positive impact on animal health.

Vital Maziwa contains minerals that have been included at or above 100% of daily requirement for a 600kg cow producing 25kg milk per day, based on an understanding of typical Kenyan diets.

Vital Maziwa recommend Usage

It should be used at a minimum of 100g per day for a lactating cow producing 25kg milk per day

. The product contains calcium and must not be fed to dry (in- calf) cows or heifers within the last two months of pregnancy as this is when Vital Dry should be used.
