Dolichos is an herbaceous, prostrate-growing annual or biennial crop. It is a summer crop of legumes with a strong taproot system. It is a crop with two uses: forage or pulse grains for human or animal consumption. It can be grazed or used in a cut-and-carry system. It can also be used as green manure or cover crop. Dolichos needs 450 mm of yearly rainfall as a minimum, however, locations with higher rainfall levels see a significant rise in productivity.
